But don’t scream at the Jewish kid walking to class,” the 30-second ad states, featuring photos from protests since October 7th. But there cannot be hate speech or intimidation,” Tara Levine, president of Kraft’s foundation said in a statement to CNN. “Our ad shows when protests create dialogue, but also when they cross the line into hate.”Kraft similarly purchased a Super Bowl ad this year to highlight antisemitism, however, the ad did not focus specifically on campus protests. But administrators have said the protests have disrupted life on campus, threatened students’ security and broke school rules. The campus protests, however, will not be a major section of the president’s remarks.

Washington CNN —President Joe Biden on Tuesday aims to issue a clarion call to fight a swiftly rising tide of antisemitism amid a precarious moment in Israel’s war against Hamas and as protests have swept American college campuses, laying bare Biden’s trouble with some young voters. Biden’s longtime and stalwart support for Israel has come under intense pressure as the humanitarian crisis in Gaza grows. The president plans to address the long history of antisemitism and issue what one senior administration official familiar with the remarks described as a “call to action” on combatting antisemitism. The protests are not expected to be a major part of the speech, the official added. However, Biden does not intend to use his speech on Tuesday to delve into Middle East policy or the current situation in Israel or Gaza.

U.S. President Joe Biden delivers remarks on canceling student debt at Culver City Julian Dixon Library on February 21, 2024 in Culver City, California. The Biden administration will soon roll out a sweeping new student loan forgiveness proposal that could impact millions of Americans. Almost half of all voters, or 48%, say canceling student loan debt is an important issue to them in the 2024 presidential and congressional elections, a recent survey found. Forgiving student debt could especially help Biden with young voters, a demographic he's been struggling with. Around 70% of Gen Z respondents said student debt cancelation was important to them in the election.

Maria Korneeva | Moment | Getty ImagesThe Biden administration has set a key deadline for student loan borrowers hoping to get forgiveness. "The opportunity to consolidate loans will help many more borrowers to qualify for student loan forgiveness," said higher education expert Mark Kantrowitz. In normal times, consolidating your student loans can be a terrible move for those hoping to get rid of their debt as your forgiveness timeline is restarted. What to know about consolidating your student loansAll federal student loans are eligible for consolidation, including Federal Family Education Loans, Parent Plus loans and Perkins Loans, Kantrowitz said. Consolidating your loans shouldn't increase your monthly payment, since your bill under an income-driven repayment plan is based on your earnings and not your total debt, Kantrowitz said.

Judge Arthur Engoron has issued a ruling in Donald Trump’s’ New York civil fraud trial. New York Attorney General Letitia James is asking for $370 million from Trump and the co-defendants in disgorgement – or ill-gotten gains, alleging he filed fraudulent financial statements that allowed him to obtain loans and insurance policies at more favorable rates. The case goes to the heart of Trump’s image as a successful billionaire and includes accusations of fraud regarding his Trump Tower apartment, Mar-a-Lago estate and several golf courses, among others. Engoron has already ruled that Trump and his co-defendants engaged in fraud and ordered the cancelation of any business certificates they hold in New York, an action that is on hold pending Trump’s appeal. This ruling will address six additional claims against some or all of the defendants including conspiracy, issuing false financial statements, falsifying business records and insurance fraud.

U.S. President Joe Biden talks to reporters as he departs the White House on June 28, 2023 in Washington, DC. The Supreme Court's conservative majority in June ruled that President Joe Biden didn't have the authority to cancel student debt for millions of Americans. That alternative plan, which has become known as Biden's Plan B, could forgive student debt for as many as 10 million people, according to one estimate. "President Biden has done more to implement student loan forgiveness than any previous president," said higher education expert Mark Kantrowitz. A spokesperson for the White House did not respond to a request for comment.

Berkshire Hathaway settled a billion-dollar lawsuit with the Haslam family over how Berkshire accounted for the value of Pilot Travel Centers, which would affect the price paid in a forced buyout of the family's remaining stake in that truck-stop giant, both sides said Sunday night. The Haslam family and its Pilot Corp. in the suit filed this fall alleged that Berkshire Hathaway improperly adopted a form of accounting of the value of Pilot Travel Centers that would have led to a sharply lower price Berkshire would pay to acquire the family's remaining 20% stake in PTC. Berkshire in turn had accused Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam of offering payments to PTC executives to boost the value of the company so that his family would get a bigger buyout from Berkshire, which controls PTC. The Haslam family and Pilot Corp. strongly denied those claims. Berkshire and Pilot Corp. in similar press statements Sunday night said that they had reached an agreement to fully settle the Delaware Chancery case.

Biden proposes ban on cable cord cutting fees
  + stars: | 2023-11-21 | by ( Chelsey Cox | ) www.cnbc.com   time to read: +2 min
WASHINGTON — The Federal Communications Commission on Tuesday announced a rule proposal to ban early termination fees for cable and satellite service contracts. The proposed rule would require cable operators and direct broadcast satellite (DBS) providers to eliminate early cancellation fees. According to that order, cable television is one sector where fees can stifle competition, due to costs associated with canceling services or switching service providers. "Companies shouldn't lock you into services you don't want with large fees," President Joe Biden said via X on Tuesday. The agency has also proposed 'all-in-pricing' for cable and satellite services, so that customers will see the total service costs, fees included, up front.

Abuja, Nigeria CNN —Diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Nigeria have come under scrutiny after 177 Nigerians were refused entry to the country on Monday. The mass cancellation of visas occurred as Nigera’s President Bola Tinubu was still in Saudi Arabia after holding bilateral talks with the Saudi government. “There was a total lack of sensitivity (by Saudi officials) because the president (of Nigeria) was visiting that country,” Okhai said. Saudi Arabia is a popular pilgrimage destination for thousands of Nigerian Muslims.
